MODULE C: DEMAND ASSESSMENT

Overview

This is the third module of the 6-week E-Learning series Fundamentals of Community-Scale Hydro Mini-Grids.  The module is developed in partnership with Energy Action Partner (ENACT), with support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH.

The module starts by defining demand assessment and categorizing types of demand.  It then dives into the key parts of a demand assessment, and how it impacts the mini-grid design.

The module then takes a closer look at agri-processing and electric cooking demand. It also provides an overview of the Community Energy Toolkit (COMET), a participatory method for demand assessment.

Finally the module provides best practices for the various steps involved in conducting a demand assessment.
