MODULE I: WATERSHED TREATMENT FOR HYDRO MINI-GRIDS

This module focuses on practical actions and sustainable solutions for ensuring healthy, forested watersheds and climate resilient hydro mini-grid communities.

The first portion of the module introduces “watershed treatment” – a concept that encompasses a range of nature-based solutions and innovations for conserving and restoring watersheds.  We discuss how best outcomes can be realized when treatments build upon local knowledge and are customized to the local context.

In the second portion of the module, we take a closer look at three key examples of watershed treatment, namely: 

1. growing forests (including afforestation & reforestation);
2. agricultural solutions (including agroforestry and agro-technologies); and,
3. built structures.

The module provides an introduction to these treatments and directs the learner to supplementary materials that provide further details.
